Value Proposition

The global economy is highly depended on STEM-qualified people. In the UK for example, engineering alone accounts for 25% of gross value added to the UK economy[1]. In addition, many companies outside of the traditional STEM sector rely on the innovation capabilities of the STEM graduates they hire to keep their companies profitable. In today’s highly digital world where more and more countries are shifting towards a knowledge-intensive economy, the dependence on STEM-qualified people will only grow as jobs will increasingly require the skill set that STEM education develops.

If we teach today’s students as we taught yesterday’s, we rob them of tomorrow.
— John Dewey (1859-1952), American Philosopher and Educational Reformer

However, the majority of STEM classrooms still rely on the traditional syllabi and pedagogic techniques, which is at odds with the increasingly technologically advanced world of today's students and tomorrow's workforce. In order to attract and retain STEM students and provide them with the highly interactive learning opportunities today's digital world offers, STEM education needs to go beyond its self-imposed two-dimensional boundaries.

By adapting the advanced Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR, VR) technologies found in computer games and other commercial applications, Weird Science Lab provides educators with the tools to revolutionise STEM education. AR and VR-enhanced curriculums provide a cost-effective, interactive and immersive learning experience that goes beyond the traditional textbook approach and the physical constraints of a laboratory.

  • Curriculum Expansion: A VR/AR enhanced curriculum exponentially increases the number, type, and calibre of experiments and scenarios that can be undertaken without access to a lab, dramatically improving both pedagogic content and student retention. Learn More
  • Bringing Science To Life:  VR brings abstract and complex concepts and models, such as gravity or black holes, to life. This gives students a more interactive and enriching learning experience.
